    Disney and Universal Studios file suit against Midjourney for copyright infringement

    Disney and NBCUniversal have filed a joint swimsuit towards AI firm Midjourney alleging copyright infringement on their varied properties. The criticism, filed in federal district courtroom in Los Angeles, consists of photos created by Midjourney that characteristic all kinds of protected characters from every firm’s varied properties, together with Star Wars, Shrek, The Simpsons, Despicable Me and others. The 110-page swimsuit alleges that the AI firm “helped itself to numerous” copyrighted works when coaching its fashions which have been creating and disseminating “innumerable” copies of those characters through AI-generated photos.

    Within the lawsuit Midjourney is described as “the quintessential copyright free-rider and a bottomless pit of plagiarism.” Disney and NBCUniversal are the primary main Hollywood gamers to enter the now crowded area of AI copyright infringement lawsuits; it comes towards the backdrop of comparable lawsuits towards , and .
